White wines

Andreas Bender, Riesling Dajoar, Mosel, Germany - In the dialect of the Mosel, the word ‘Dajoar’ means “as the olden days”. It is the term chosen by Andreas to describe this style of Riesling, made as an homage to the Mosel wines of the past: off-dry with a playful sweetness that balances out the crisp acidity. This is beautifully bright and fresh, with plenty of green and yellow fruits, great intensity and grip on the mid- palate and a long mineral finish. Unlike the vast majority in Germany who vinify and bottle their top vineyards individually, Andreas chooses to make wines from across his  vineyards in order to produce a certain style. He also doesn’t come from a long standing winemaking family but chose to follow that path and worked around the world before settling back in the Mosel where the slate soils and steep slopes overlooking the river produce unique wines. Organic. Vegan

Samurai Chardonnay, South Eastern Australia - The Aussies hit the ground running back in the day, labelling their wines with easily recognised grape varieties, pictures of critters, often kangaroos or koalas, pronounceable names and big flavours at low prices. Something had to give though and in the end it was an inevitable decline into manufacturing wine rather than growing it which, along with a major shift in exchange rate, blew the doors off the business. It’s taken a while to come back and the styles of wine have shifted a bit too, For example this Chardonnay is a whole lot less heavy handed than had become the norm. The grapes are grown in cooler areas, don’t see a whiff of oak and are fermented cool all in order to retain freshness and varietal character. Vegan.

Bodegas Sumarroca, Cava Brut Reserva, Brut Nature, Catalunya, Spain - Cava was the go to sparkling alternative before Prosecco came along and stole the thunder, ahh the 80's, those were the good old days!! Well cava is back and better than ever and this one from Bodegas Sumarroca. Fantastic with rice, salads and seafood and any asparagus dish. Carlos and Nuria Sumarocca have created this elegant cava using Carlos’ extensive agricultural know how and by adhering to their sustainable philosophy: Improve the quality of production to obtain innovative wines and cava’s with character and balance. Well, they’ve succeeded! This cava is produced using traditional techniques, the free run juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 18 days before spending 36 months in oak barrels. The oak creates brioche notes which then leads to light fresh fruit, smooth bubbles and a dry finish. Organic.

Red wines

Gatito Loco, Rioja Tinto - That Rioja is one of the best known wine regions in the world is beyond doubt. That a lot of the wines labelled as such are, well, just a bit boring, a pastiche of what they can be is also true. But that doesn't mean there isn't room for something great. Gatito Loco is made with grapes sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Rioja Baja, ferments with just the naturally occurring yeasts that exist in the vineyards and winery, and doesn't get smothered in oak to mask the flavour of the fruit. Completely in contrast to what a lot of the big brands are doing, a little "loco" perhaps? Proofs in the drinking though... Perfect with pasta, grilled meat, a picnic (it's got a screw cap for easy access) or a night in front of Netflix.. Organic and Vegan

Chateau Ollieux Romanis, Artisans Partisans, Corbieres Rouge "Cuvee Alice", Languedoc-Roussillon, France - This wine is produced in collaboration with Chateaux Ollieux Romanis, an historic estate in the heart of Corbieres near to Montseret, owned by the Bories family. The area was utilised by the Romans for olives groves, hence the name. The Artisans Partisans wines are made to reflect the nature of the country, the history of the people, and the traditional grape varieties and farming practices of the region. Cuvée Alice is made up of 70% Carignan, the vines between 70 and 100 years old, with 30% Grenache Noir. Packed with rich red fruits, super soft and generous. Ideal with a warming Autumn stew.

Latium Morini, Valpolicella, Italy - Latium Morini is an extended family producer - seven brother, sisters, uncles, aunts etc who own vineyards in the Veneto regions of Soave and Valpolicella, north of Verona in North East Italy. They used to take their grapes to the local cooperative but around ten years ago decided to build their own winery, partly spurred on by seeing what their famous neighbours were doing. They have never looked back and get great reviews for their wines. Jancis Robinson rates their Amarone as being in the top five produced. A favourite of checked table cloth Italian Trattoria for many years, proper Valpol is brilliant with pizza, pasta or that Veronese classic, horse! Organic principals. Vegan.

This case contains one bottle of each of these wines. If any is out of stock or becomes unavailable it will be replaced by one of equal or greater value and deliciousness.
