Sparkling Wines

While Champagne is the almost unarguable king of fizz there are many other sparkling wines that are well worth exploring and (whisper it) often better value for money.

In particular, Pet Nat (aka Pétillant Naturel or Méthode Ancestrale) is a relatively new style that’s really exciting at the moment, some beautiful wines being created by growers across the globe. Instead of using a second fermentation in bottle or tank to create the bubbles, the wine is bottled before the first alcoholic fermentation is finished, trapping natural CO2 in the wine, creating more of a foam than a full on fizz. Be careful when you open them though - they can be a little lively!
